The Chats Lake Community Boat Club is located in the Town of Arnprior, Ontario, with access to some of the finest boating waters on the Ottawa River. The 16-mile reach of the Ottawa River between Chats Falls and the Chenaux Rapids provides a varied and uncrowded boating environment.

The Chats Lake Community Boat Club caters to power boating and sailing. We have 23 moorings, as well as a concrete launch ramp and ample accommodation on shore for trailer launched vessels and winter storage. Accommodation on our docks is usually dependent on an allocation and waiting list system, however for the 2009 season we have several vacancies available to existing and new members. Please contact Gary at 613-623-0309 or CLCBC information for availability, including details of the type and size of your boat.

The club house includes kitchen and shower facilities and provides an excellent venue for our social events and relaxation after a session on the water.

AGM 24 October

The AGM held at the clubhouse was well attended and preceded by a very excellent soup and sandwich lunch catered by Annarella's Fine Catering Service of Arnprior. The following is a brief summary of some of the matters discussed:

It was agreed to apply an additional surcharge, amount to be decided but not to exceed $50.00, to the annual membership renewal fee for existing members. The surcharge is specifically to be applied to capital projects such as renewal / replacement of the moorings, as distinct from ongoing facility maintenance already included in the operating budget. The surcharge does not apply to new members since a first year initiation fee is already in place.

Work is in hand to install a chain across the launch ramp, as agreed at the Spring meeting, in order to restrict ramp usage to bona fide club members following damage last season from unauthorized use by an excessively heavy boat and trailer. Access will be controlled by a combination lock - details to be advised following installation.

It was agreed that the seasonal haul out and reinstallation of the floating docks needed to be better organized and that one person - namely the dockmaster - should be in charge of operations. Similar comments were made with regard to the crane haul out of the larger boats although this is not really a club responsibility and should be organized by the owners themselves.

The provision of a club cellphone to provide emergency communications had not been successful since the battery kept going flat and most members did not know where the instrument was located. It was agreed to investigate an improved phone and service plan to resolve this problem.

Gary and Lynda agreed that their phone number (613-623-0309) could be used as the point of contact for enquiries relating to moorings, mooring allocations and other related issues.

The winner's cup for the Regatta was presented to Richard Laxton (Shark).
